Classification systems are crucial for a language survival

Accumulating knowledge such as in the Great Library of Alexandria requires developing a system to catalogue books and information. Someone had to come with the idea of organizing books by alphabetical order[@vallejomoreu2019El infinito en un junco: la invención de los libros en el Mundo Antiguo] and there is a chance that languages that did not manage to create these systems were simply abandoned.

If you have a written language that does not allow you to retrieve information relatively easy, then there is little use for it. While books start piling up, there must be a way of finding it back. (Unrelated in this context, but see: retrieval and storage strength).
