Public engagement with research activities
Engagement with research projects can be achieved at different levels. Outreach, for example, is one way, Citizen science is another at the opposite side of the spectrum.
In the life-sciences, almost all researchers think that engagement is beneficial for the general public, and many also consider it beneficial for themselves[@burns2021From intent to implementation: Factors affecting public involvement in life science research]. However, public engagement with research is challenging, especially because of incentives, and thus many researches leave it aside.
I think one of the most valuable aspects of engagement is that Citizen science can create a more participative democracy.
