This list was taken from a course on Product Management in Coursera. It is very focused on digital products more than hardware, but I still believe it can be extrapolated to an extent.

  1. User research
  2. Information architecture
  3. Interaction design
  4. Prototyping
  5. Visual design
  6. Content strategy

The Product Requirements Document can be used by designers to understand what they need to achieve. Product Management is in charge of the flow of information from Customer Development to design, including User Experience.
