Habits are persistent
Ahrens1 claims that the easiest way of predicting future behavior is by assuming they are persistent: "Next year we will eat as many chocolates as we ate today". Therefore, if we want to build up new habits we must do it slowly. A possibility would be changing habits with sliding temporal windows.
