The zombie stat

In her book, Caroline Criado Perez defines the zombie stat as data that has no real backing, but that is given for certain @criadoperez2020Invisible women: exposing data bias in a world designed for men. For example, "70% of poor people are women" can be traced back to a report from the UN that does not quote nor cite any study. This data could have been fabricated by however wrote the report, but it was later cited by so many others that it is given for certain. This apparently happened in the UK election in 2017, in which people started claiming that young voters had a massive presence, although this was not verified.
